Creating and parenting, simultaneously, often feels like multiple versions of the same kind of work. There are creative pieces to pulling together dinner, getting a seven-year-old to read out loud without a fuss, and keeping a house with four active kids (and two pets) picked up but not sterile. You have to know when to stop: when the house is clean enough, when the line in the painting is as good as it’s going to get. You have to know when to walk away and come back later. You have to know how to substitute: for brown sugar, for pigments, for the permission slip that didn’t make it home from school. Everything is a bit of a guessing game: try this and see how it goes. Maybe try a different ingredient, a different color, a different method next time. Trial and error, baby.
All of these K’Vay paintings, and more, in my Etsy Art Shop.
